Warm Greetings From Chilly New England!
Our Father in Heaven has been supplying our every need & many of our desires & we invite you to PRAISE His Holy Name with us, for He is GOOD beyond what we can ever fully describe or imagine! Amen?
The 2024 SW Michigan TRUTH Conference now has a home! Pastor Don Filcek & the saints of ReCAST Church of Mattawan (ReCASTchurch.com) have graciously agreed to host this 4-hour Saturday afternoon event, just TWO months from now, on April 27, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 PM. Doors will open at noon.
Justin McCoy, a Navigators missionary reaching young adults in Nashville (Navigators.org/staff/23839205),
Pastor & author Davis Moore of Corner Bible Church in Allegan (CornerBibleChurch.com), & I will share for about 40 minutes each from our Bibles, hearts, & ministries from 1:00-4:00 PM, then from 4:00-5:00, Justin, Davis & I will be together for a Q&A time & panel discussion. That's a LOT of Kingdom encouragement in just 4 hours. There’s no cost to attend & we’d all LOVE to see YOU! Save the date & time. More details will be coming SOON.
BULLET POINT BLESSINGS
Our family is THRIVING. The Lord perfectly provided for our expressed need for a different vehicle, completely & in a way we never could have imagined. He's the Lord Who PROVIDES! Please fear & thank Him with us, as He alone is all-powerful & all-knowing in His perfect provision.
Our ministry is THRIVING. Just one quick example of many Gospel opportunities He's provided recently--an assistant principal from the local high school in a neighboring town called to tell me that he'd heard our church is willing to help if they know about a need & can & asked if he could share a need. Wow. We have no idea where he heard that, but word gets around in small towns. He said there was a student that lives less than a mile from our church who's needing occasional help in the afternoons after school before his mom gets home from work. Of course we'll help! We got to meet, help, & bless this new-to-us & precious-to-the-Lord family. They've now got us on speed dial anytime we're needed. His mom sent me a text this week expressing thanks & saying "such a huge relief." We got to share that it's the Lord Who PROVIDES! Please give glory to Him with us for His kindness.
Our church is THRIVING. The community around us SEES not just life at the church, but CHRIST'S LIFE! Just since the beginning of 2024, we've seen first time visitors almost every Sunday morning, including a local high school senior who's wanting to know more about Christ before leaving for college soon, the sister of a regular attender, a young couple who just moved into the next town over, & a man who came through our doors just this past Sunday who sent me the email below Sunday afternoon:
Good afternoon, Pastor Dave. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for making me feel welcome this morning minutes after arriving. Maybe the Lord knew what He was doing calling me to end my decades long absence from attending church and leading me to this one. I think we know that the word "maybe" can be removed from my prior sentence. After our conversation, Shannon came right over and introduced herself to me as well. You both made me feel at ease immediately!
Your sermon spoke to me in several ways today. In particular, it opened my eyes to the "broken" relationship I had with God...or rather, the broken communication I had with God. I have been praying and talking to God for a long time. However, I had not been listening. I had not been reading the word of God. It had been decades since I opened the Bible to read it other than at a funeral. Last Monday when I was called to visit the Middleton Gospel Chapel, I also began reading the Bible again. Wanting to jump into the New Testament, I started with the Gospel of Matthew. Not coincidentally, I have had a spring in my step this past week. I have felt a glow since then. It was all due to the excitement of going to church again. Or so I thought. I now suspect improving my communication with God had something to do with it as well.
My perception after one visit is that your church is one that preaches and studies the word of God...That is what I was looking for…I am optimistic and hopeful that the Lord has directed me to the Middleton Gospel Chapel to eventually become a member not a visitor.
Thank you again for the warm welcome today, and please extend my appreciation and thanks to Shannon for her welcome. I hope to see you this Thursday evening.
The Lord PROVIDES, even when we have no idea what He's using us to provide! Please meditate on & worship Him for His goodness with us in this.
Revelation 14:6-7 defines the "everlasting Gospel" as this same message for every person on Planet Earth at every time & in every place:
“Fear God & give glory to Him...& worship Him who made heaven & earth, the sea & springs of water.”
It's a JOY to get to be used by Him with YOU as He reveals His Kingdom, power, & glory forever. Amen?!
Dave, Shannon, & John Scott
