He Is Worthy

Hello friends,

It’s hard to believe that we’ve arrived at our second anniversary on the field as missionaries. In Psalm 103, we find David reminding himself of the benefits of following the Lord & we testify with him that He is worth following—He is worthy! Amen?

We landed here in New Hampshire on December 2nd, as winter was just beginning, so watching a New England spring come to life is a joy that reminds us that the Lord is near, within arms’ reach, as Acts 17:27 & many other verses describe perfectly.

We’ve landed in a healthy, vibrant church in the midst of a spiritually dark area & it’s been another distinct joy to join the work the Lord’s been cultivating & energizing here through others’ for decades—to hit the ground running, so to speak.

As I preach through the elements of the Sermon on the Mount on Sunday mornings & lead a study through the book of Revelation on Wednesday nights, as well as meet with a group of men on Tuesday mornings, John is serving as our faithful technical support, & the Lord’s working in & around Shannon as she leads a women’s study on Tuesday mornings & works with others to plan & shape our upcoming outreach to the community as the only church in the area that is providing a Vacation Bible School this summer.

From Shannon’s Heart

I'm always amazed, but never surprised, as I consider the big picture of how God is working in, around, and through us. Now that we are moved and settled into our new ministry in New Hampshire, and my parents are moved and settled into their new life in South Carolina, it seems like the ministry pause button has finally been released.

Our ladies' Bible Study group met for the first time this past week for a 5-week study using Kay Arthur's Lord Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days. As one precious Titus 2 older woman in our group said, "I've participated in many Bible Studies over the years, but I've never really learned how to study the Bible." Pray for each of us that we will develop healthy daily study habits and would be greatly encouraged by reading, studying, and discussing God's Word together.

We are also knee-deep in VBS preparations. This is somewhat of a faith test for our church because John is currently the only kid in the church. We are trusting God will bring children, and we're standing firm on His promise that His Word will not return void. Please pray with us that God will bring children and families and that they would have soft hearts to hear the Good News.

I am also thankful that it has almost been one year since my orbital blowout fracture and corrective surgery. The doctors said it could take upwards of a year for all of the nerves to settle and heal. I've had one nerve in particular that has been sensitive and painfully achy all year. I was beginning to lose hope that it would get better. In the last couple of weeks though, I've started experiencing some twitching along that nerve and I'm feeling less of the painful sensitivity. Praise the Lord! I'm praying He will fully restore that nerve, but even if He doesn't, I'm certainly giving Him the glory for making it less painful!

From John’s Heart

Hi! I love New Hampshire! it has very pretty roads, trees, and AMAZING VIEWS! The most beautiful road is NH-112 from Conway to Lincoln, it goes around the White Mountains and it is So beautiful!

Also, I woke up today and saw that they had put up some Flags for Memorial Day and I love it!

I also enjoy doing the Slides on sunday, and it is really fun to do! and VBS is at the end of July and i am the head of decorations!! 😀 I get to print out flags and put them up in the classroom! i am so excited for VBS!!!

We’ll end this quick update by expressing our wonder & thankfulness for & with you at the Lord’s provision. We often thank Him during our family prayer times for “giving us all we need & much of what we want.”

If the Lord’s leading you to lay up treasure in Heaven with us by your time & heart invested through prayer, we’re deeply grateful as we know the Lord collects & answers those prayers as Revelation 5 & 8 reveal. If the Lord’s leading you to support the mission to spread the Gospel in a 2 Thessalonians 3:1 way in this corner of New England, you can do so here:

Currently, we can express a financial need to provide for the rental of a large tent & the purchase of food & craft supplies—all for VBS that will be offered during the mornings of July 26-30.

Please pray with us that the Lord will use our efforts & your prayers & financial support to draw those kids & families in this area to Himself, as we know that no one, here in New Hampshire or there where you live, can come to know salvation through Jesus unless the Father draws them (John 6:44)—that’s our goal: to be clear signs that point others to Jesus. That’s what He left us here to do (Acts 1:8).
